Genectically modified organisms (GMO) are increasing the productivity of many crops, decreasing the use of pesticides and in some cases, such the golden rice, improving dramatically the nutritional quality of the grains. They are the only way to face up the effects of climate change and keep feeding the increasing world population. The studies made by many governamental institutions in several countries demonstrate that they are safe for the health of humans and animals, and not less for the enviroment. The concerns of ONGs such as GreenPeace are not funded in facts. A very abrangent study sponsored by the American academies of Science, Medicine and Engeneering, reported recently in a book, confirms the safety of GMO and emphasises their beneficts.
